The two will throw down in the co-headliner of UFC 209, and not only will the bout determine who is the interim 155 champ, it will, ostensibly, line the winner up for a fight with Conor McGregor. The biggest name in the game, and thus, the biggest payday.
Ferguson and Nurmagomedov have been on a collision course for sometime now, and as a result, the two have been warring through the media and online for weeks. During a recent media call for UFC 209, that evidently didn’t change.
Here is just some of what the two had to say to one another (quotes via MMA Fighting):
“I think about you,” Nurmagomedov said. “I think I’m going to break you. This is what I think. I don’t think about Conor, other stuff. What are you talking about? You talk about Conor.”
“Dude, I am unbreakable,” Ferguson responded. “Trust me, dude, I’m a f*cking machine now. You have no idea what you’re dealing with. You just woke me up. You keep laughing. You keep laughing. I’m the new John Wick.”
“How many times you lose?” Nurmagomedov replied. “Danny Castillo beat your ass. You remember this?”
“Danny Castillo didn’t do sh*t,” Ferguson said while discussing his split decision win over Castillo in 2014. “He f*cking laid on me, dude. I beat his ass too…”
Yup. If this fight isn’t on your must see list, well, something’s wrong with that picture. UFC 209 will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the headliner, welterweight champ Tyron Woodley will battle Stephen Thompson for a second time. They fought to a draw last November.
