Dana White: January Event in Montreal Canceled
Dana White has confirmed to the Canadian Pess that a rumored event in Montreal, Canada that was supposed to take place in January is officially off:
“We had a venue and everything set up for Canada and we had to cancel the Canada date,” UFC president Dana White told reporters Thursday.
The proposed January show at the Bell Centre was supposed to be shown on HBO in the U.S. But when the HBO deal did not come through, the show was axed.
“I know it sucks, I’m sorry,” White said. “We”ll get there, I promise.”
The news, which was delivered at the pre-UFC 77 press conference today in Cincinnati, confirms speculation that the event was canceled when a January UFC event in Newcastle, England was announced yesterday.

It doesn’t seem Dana has been capable of getting any deals done? Just kidding. I actually still have a lot of respect for the man. He is trying to sign the biggest deals in the sport. You really can’t expect him to get them all. He did sign Wanderlei. He is taking the sport (the UFC version of the sport) to larger portions of the world. I as a fan b**** when my favorite fight can’t happen, but honestly from a business point of view, the UFC cannot allow Fedor,or HBO,or even Couture make all of these demands and get away with it. Imagine if Fedor signed with the right to fight for other promotions. Every singal fighter would throw a fit when they were not allowed the same treatment. Imagine if they didn’t(or don’t’ hold Couture to his contract(which as a fan I hope, but doubt). Every time a fighter decides he (or she) wants more, they hold out. It would ruin the sport. But as a fan, I will keep expecting it all to happen when and how I want.
they have no idea how much money they are missing out on in canada, even without GSP on the card, even if it was all american, japanese or whatever, us canucks are die hard ufc fans and spend a lot of cash to go watch these fights in vegas, which are well worth it and a hell of a good time, but for the love of God man give us at least one ppv
