Wanderlei Silva will Announce Next Opponent at UFC 77

We’re only a few days away from knowing who Wanderlei’s Silva’s next opponent is going to be. A statement released on Silva’s official site reports:
“Wanderlei Silva is once again the special guest to the next UFC in USA. UFC 77 will take place on October 20, when the name of his opponent will be released. The date has been confirmed.
In contact with Wanderlei, he explains that the name is already defined and that the disclosure will only be possible after the event.”
It can be expected that since the UFC will announcing Silva’s opponent during a live event, this is going to be a huge announcement.
Any takers on who his opponent is going to be? My guess is either Chuck Liddell or Tito Ortiz.

Absolutely between Liddell or Ortiz. If its anyone else, well thats just kind of lame. Speculation heavily favors a match with Liddell and I suspect that will be the announcement, but its anyones guess.
So Wanderlei will either fight Tito Ortiz or he’ll take a real fight!
When was the last time Tito fought something other than old men (and a nasty rash his skanky gf gave him) and came out with a definitive win?
I want to see a PRIDE love story where a PRIDE fighter brings the legacy to the UFC. That’s all I ask, just some destructive fists of fury from Wanderlei.

Leland. I feel the same way. What better person to bring the PRIDE legacy to the UFC than Silva himself?
Ugh, I can’t watch PRIDE: Decade without getting pissed at White and Fertitta’s speech at the end, knowing what followed.
If we’re going to see Wanderlei win in the UFC I hope his opponent is Tito. I really want to see him fight Liddell but I am personally a fan of both (not a huge fan but I like them to win). The rumors point to Liddell fight Wanderlei in December but the fight could be pushed back to ‘08 or his opponent could change. We’ll see on Saturday.
Derek: Definitely a good possibility with Tito as well because Tito is picky and has already beaten Wanderlei once, so he might have more confidence in out wrestling Silva one more time… assuming he still can of course.
I am sure it will be Tito. Chuck Liddel cannot jump into a fight with Wanderlei directly after winning two fights. Chuck needs to fight Tito again to build his confidence. I thought Tito/Wandy 1 was a pretty boaring fight personally, but hopefully this time will be better. Tito better not come in thinking he is fighting the same guy that he fought the first time around or he will be leaving on a stretcher. It will be a good chance (and a make or break for Tito)for both of them to prove their worth to the UFC fans, but I think this fight is worse for Silva than Tito. If Tito wins, or loses, but puts on a good fight, it boosts his status in the fight world. If Silva desimates Tito, then people will say it was a missmatch, and Silva needs a real test. If Silva looses, then he is in the same boat (maybe not quite as bad) as Liddel with back to back loses. But it would be a great set up for Liddel/Silva for 2008.
i would like to see chuck vs wanderlei, but i would not be dissapointed in silva/ortiz II. that would probably be a good fight.
Well considering both Liddell and Silva both have back to back losses, it will most likley be Ortiz or Griffin maybe.
