UFC 208: Derek Brunson Blasts Decision, Says he “Outclassed” Anderson Silva

UFC 208

Derek Brunson was handed a decision loss following his bout with Anderson Silva last night, and the middleweight contender clearly isn’t happy with the judges…

The two faced off in the co-headliner of UFC 208, and while the fight saw flashes of the old Silva, in terms of taunts, feints and head movement, Brunson landed more strikes and two countdowns (see the stats here). After the bout, scores of 30-27, 29-28, 29-28 were read out, handing the legend Silva the victory.

Well, it didn’t take Brunson long to voice his objections on social media. Not long after, the powerful wrestler had this to say about the fight on Facebook:

‪Wow unreal I put my heart & soul out there on 3 weeks notice only to get it taken from me.I just outclassed the greatest of all time #UFC208‬

More recently, Brunson posted this:

Still respect to the GOAT, judges can be lame but it was a great fighr Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva. #UFC208 #OnToTheNext

The decision certainly has folks debating and discussing online, so Brunson isn’t the only one who feels this way. Did he ‘outclass’ Silva as he believes? Well, it also looks like there’s a lot of people who don’t see it that way either. Silva landed 43 significant strikes to Brunson’s 54, and in the final round, he was hunting for the finish. So, it’s not like Brunson blew Silva out of the water.

30-27 for Silva though…that score is ridiculous.
