Fans will be delighted to hear that Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is back on the path of recovery since undergoing surgery to repair a damaged ligament in his left knee. In a feature with Brazilian publication, Tatame, Shogun explains that he is now able to walk and he is looking forward to start training again.
When asked about an exact return date and who might his next opponent be Shogun states,
“In truth I still do not have an official date, but I predict February. Truthfully, I do not choose my opponents, but if it were a recognized name it would be better. A Tito Ortiz or Chuck Liddell, a popular name would be better. But for now I am focusing on getting back to training.”

Ha First comment! To that guy who is always trying.
Anyway, shogun vs machida!
REMATCH!!
I think the UFC will give him his wish. Shogun/Tito is a great idea. It would give both of them pull in the division with a well fought fight by each of them, and the fans would be happy. Shogun/Chuck would be cool, but I think the last thing the Iceman needs is a fighter like Shogun right away. He does need a win, but I think that it is more likely that Rua would beat him. Chuck needs to get his confidence back by beating up some middle tear fighters or some baby seals or something. Maybe a year off would do him some good(refocus his mind, or completely redirect his style.)
i would like to see shogun tito.it will give us the chance to see where tito is because he would need to be at his best.also shogun would be desperate for the win after losing to forrest.
Actually, Shogun vs. Liddell seems like a bad matchup for Shogun. Shogun isn’t a powerful striker unless he’s in close. He doesn’t have devastating knockout power in his jabs. He can’t head stomp people and soccer kick them out of consciousness, so he would have to rely on kicks and strikes. He probably couldn’t take Chuck down either. I think stylistically, that’s not that great of a matchup for Shogun, although he may be able to beat him in a decision.
Liddell would smash shogun. Chuck is having a problem right now… he got knocked out. As you all saw in his fight with jardine, Chuck was acting very tentative, affraid to throw shots more or less because he didn’t want to get knocked out again. Getting knocked out standing vs shogun is not likely for someone like chuck. I think chuck would come out swinging and avoid take downs. i would predict a chuck ko win.
however… if chuck does come out and fight wanderlei… I think chuck may be at a bit of a disadvantage, for reasons i stated above. unless silva had the fear of ko as well… then the fight would just be borring.
i think shogun is the number 1 lhw fighter out there…i would like him to fight forrest again. in their fight shogun was tired as soon as the second round started. for a man with a good conditioning and for a fighter that’s used to fighting 10 minutes first round, you knew that something was wrong…if he fights forrest again he will beat him
It would be nice to see a rematch so that Shogun could show that white ass what a really beating is that b**** (griffen.)
