Jorge Masvidal has moved right into the title shot mix, after taking out Donald Cerrone at UFC on FOX 23…

Cerrone took on the former lightweight contender at the event, and put a halt to “Cowboy’s” rise up the welterweight ranks, by finishing him in the second round with punches. Leading up to the card, Masvidal was ranked #12 in the UFC’s welterweight division. Well, today the promotion’s released the new rankings, and “Gamebred” is sitting in the #5 spot.

Cerrone had been ranked #5, but he fell three positions and is now #8.

So, everyone knew that the win was big for Masvidal, and this development only strengthens that point of view.

If you’re wondering,  Francis Ngannou also made a big move, on account of his quick win over Andrei Arlovski. The heavyweight jumped up four spots into the #6 slot, and Arlovski dropped three rankings and is now #10.
