A lot of people predicted that Bellator 170 would pull in big ratings for Spike and the promotion, and last Saturday’s card did just that.
As you surely know, the event featured the return of Chael Sonnen, who took on Tito Ortiz in what was the latter’s final fight. The former UFC light-heavyweight champ proceeded to submit Sonnen in the opening round.
Well, Spike sent out a press release on Tuesday reporting that the headliner between Sonnen and Ortiz drew 1.85 million viewers. Those figures, however, do not include “DVR 3+” numbers, so the total is likely to climb.
Overall, the card averaged 1.4 million viewers, making it the third most watched Bellator card to date.
So, clearly Sonnen and Ortiz are still big names that can draw mainstream fans.
