Tony Ferguson is going to face Khabib Nurmagomedov for the interim lightweight title at UFC 209, and “El Cucuy” isn’t sure that reigning champ, Conor McGregor, is going to face the winner…

The March 4th, Ferguson – Nurmagomedov fight has been booked, since the expecting father McGregor, is reportedly taking a break. Obviously, as is the case with any interim belt, the plan is that when McGregor returns, he’ll face the winner of the upcoming bout.

Well, recently the UFC held a press conference to promote the March 4th fight. While speaking to the media about McGregor, Ferguson fired these shots at the Irish star (quote via MMA Fighting):

“I have nine fights in a row win streak. Khabib has eight fights in a row. This is the first time you guys are ever gonna see this inside the octagon. This is for an interim title. It should be for the real sh-t. Am I a little pissed about it? Yeah. Is Conor gonna defend his belt, that little b–ch? Probably not. He’s gonna run. Go ahead. Go run. Go try to box. You’ll get your ass kicked too. And when you’re ready to come back, they’re gonna strip your belt and at 155, I’m gonna be holding it and you’re gonna be like, ‘Oh I want my belt back’ and this and that. I don’t give a sh-t. The fight, the real fight, is between Conor? No. Conor, sorry buddy. The fight’s between Khabib and Ferguson.”

How about that? It will be interesting to see if McGregor offers a response.

Now, there are a couple of scenarios that could play out, which would potentially delay McGregor’s first title defense. One, if the much discussed, boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather does materialize, then McGregor’s next MMA fight might not go down this year.

Then, there’s also a chance that McGregor will want to challenge for the welterweight title, and that the UFC signs off on that. Yes, even though Dana White has said that McGregor shouldn’t have faced Nate Diaz at 170…
