Following his loss to TJ Dillashaw at UFC 207, it looks like John Lineker won’t be starting his 2017 campaign for a little while.
The feared slugger came up short against Dillashaw at the December 30th event, and lost to the former bantamweight champ by unanimous decision. Since then, Lineker has confirmed to MMA Fighting that he broke his jaw early into the fight:
“I felt a pop right away,” said Lineker. “I wasn’t dizzy or anything like that, but I felt a pop. I thought ‘it was just the kick, no problem,’ but it start to hurt a lot in the second round. I truly felt it in the third, when I took all of his punches.”
Lineker also reported that a MRI has confirmed his jaw has two fractures following the bout. The Brazilian received a six month, medical suspension, provided a doctor doesn’t clear him for competition earlier.
