There continues to be talk about Conor McGregor facing Tyron Woodley in 2017, and recently the latter served up a reminder, as to how much bigger he would be than the 155 champ…
On Sunday, Michael Bisping posted a video on his Instagram feed, which features him and Woodley talking about a scrap between them. Since Bisping is the middleweight champ, and Woodley’s the welterweight king, they eventually agree to a catchweight fight at 180.
Now, that in itself, is pretty interesting. But, during the back-and-forth, Woodley tells Bisping that he’s “200”. Later in the discussion, it sounds like Woodley says he’s 205…So, ya; “The Choosen One” certainly isn’t your average sized welterweight…
Realistically, of course, a Bisping – Woodley fight isn’t going to happen. Bisping has Yoel Romero waiting in the wings for his title shot, and once the middleweight champ is healthy, that fight’s expected to go down next.
Things aren’t as clear, however, for Woodley. There’s certainly been a lot of talk about McGregor challenging the welterweight champ. But not long ago, Dana White cited the size of Nate Diaz, as to why a third fight with McGregor shouldn’t happen. Although, the UFC President has been known to say something won’t happen, and then it does. In other words, if McGregor insisted on fighting Woodley, the promotion would likely book it.
There’s also the possibility of a rematch between Woodley and Thompson. They battled to a majority draw at UFC 205 in November.
