WEC 49 Confirmed for June 20 in Edmonton, Canada

Chris HorodeckiFollowing it’s upcoming pay-per-view debut with “WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber” on April 24, World Extreme Cagefighting will head to Canada for the first time on June 20 with WEC 49 in Edmonton, Alberta, WEC vice-president Peter Dropick recently confirmed with The Canadian Press.

The Versus-televised event, which was previously rumored for Calgary, will be held at Rexall Place, the home of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers that can hold a crowd of nearly 17,000, but will be scaled down for the WEC card.

Mark Hominick and Yves Jabouin are expected to appear on the card, while fellow Canadian Chris Horodecki is expected to meet Ed Ratcliff at the event. Former lightweight champ Jamie Varner has also confirmed a likely June return.
