So Cub Swanson Reports he Doesn’t “Even Try to Hit a Heavy Bag” as Hard as he Hit Doo Ho Choi

Doo Ho Choi came up short against Cub Swanson at UFC 206, but the MMA world is still sending heaps of praise his way, due to the toughness and heart he showed.

The South Korean fighter landed his fair share of big time shots during the epic bout, but Swanson rocked Choi several times, and appeared to be on the verge of finishing the featherweight more than once. After the “Fight of the Year” contender, Swanson earned the unanimous decision win.

The perennial, 145 contender appeared on Sirius XM’s Luke Thomas show recently, and here is what Swanson had to say about Choi’s chin (quote via MMA Mania):

“Definitely [have] not [faced anyone as durable as Choi],” Swanson said. “I was telling my coaches backstage that I don’t even try to hit a heavy bag that hard. I remember wanting to turn around a couple of times. Toward the end, I had him on the fence, I wanted to turn around and look at the ref, like, ‘Are you serious?’ But, he just kept reviving.”

Yup. Choi officially lost the fight, but chances are more people are talking about him now than ever before. It was an insanely entertaining fight.

It will be interesting to see what comes next for Choi. The UFC tapped him to face the #4 ranked Swanson, as a result of three consecutive, first round stoppages in the Octagon. What about a fight with Jeremy Stephens? Who is coming off a decision loss to Frankie Edgar.

Sounds about right no?
