Welterweight Claude Patrick, who signed a four-fight deal with the UFC in March to debut at UFC 115 in his native Canada, will face off against Ricardo Funch on the preliminary card of the June 12 event in Vancouver, according to MMA Weekly.
After suffering his lone career loss to Drew McFedries in 2002, Patrick (11-1) has won 10-straight, including a third-round submission of Matt MacGrath in February in his most-recent bout. All of Patrick’s victories have come by stoppage (7 submissions and 3 TKOs), with only two going past the opening round.
Funch (7-1) ended a 15-month layoff when he made his UFC debut in December, dropping a unanimous decision to Johny Hendricks at UFC 107 for his first defeat.
UFC President Dana White said this week that former light heavyweight champs and rival TUF 11 coaches Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz will “definitely” meet in the UFC 115 headliner, while the card is also expected to include a rematch between welterweight contenders Thiago Alves and Jon Fitch as well as Pat Barry vs. Mirko “Cro Cop.”
