It looks like the run of Matt Hughes and Chuck Liddell as UFC executives has ended.
According to a report from MMA Fighting, the promotion has laid off both legendary fighters. Hughes was the vice president of athlete development and government relations, while Liddell had been the executive vice president of business development.
Hughes stated in the aforementioned report:
“The UFC has been great to me,” Hughes said. “Times change, and I understand the decision that was made. I will move on. My family and I are fine.”
Liddell, on the other hand, couldn’t be reached for comment.
This shouldn’t come as a big shocker. The UFC’s new ownership group, led by WME-IMG, has been downsizing the promotion’s staff since they purchased the company earlier this year.
