There are quite a few people who insist Conor McGregor‘s received preferential treatment from the UFC, and don’t believe the fighter should be as big of a star as he is, but Glover Teixeira isn’t one of them.
In recent years, McGregor has gone on to become one of the biggest names in combat sports, and now holds two UFC titles. But, during that time, many fans and fighters have questioned whether McGregor has had as tough a road as others, in terms of opponents. The argument being that because McGregor is so good at self promoting, and talking trash, that the UFC has granted him opportunities he hasn’t necessarily earned. For example, McGregor was allowed to fight for the UFC title, even though he had never one a bout while competing in the UFC’s 155 division.
“Of course he deserves the success he achieved, you can’t say otherwise. How I can say it’s not? He sells, he knows how to talk, he’s smart, he’s no fool. McGregor doesn’t fight, he just reacts, he’s never first to throw a punch. He goes in there to tease, not to fight. He’s like Muhammad Ali.”
“McGregor sells the show and fights well, he’s a real athlete who doesn’t get out of shape and is always training. He’s a high level guy who sells and deserves it…”
There you go. It does seem like ever since McGregor stormed through Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, there’s been far less people questioning whether the fearsome striker deserves what he’s earned.
