Khabib Nurmagoedov has repeatedly reminded folks that he has the support of a country with over 140 million people, and it looks like he’s been offered a big time payday as a result…

That country, of course, is Russia, and Mr. Nurmagomedov is one of the most successful and respected fighters to come out of that nation. Most recently, the vaunted grappler submitted Michael Johnson at UFC 205 to move his record to 24-0, and “The Eagle” has been pretty vocal about the fact he wants a title shot next. Conor McGregor took out Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 to become the lightweight champ, but according to Dana White, the expecting father isn’t planning to fight again until next May at the earliest.

Recently Nurmagomedov’s manager, Ali Abdel-Aziz, appeared on “The MMA Hour“, and he was asked about the fighter’s next bout. According to Abdel-Aziz, the Russian fighter has received a huge offer to fight in his native country. The only problem is, however, is it’s not an offer from the UFC (quote via MMA Mania.com):

“At the end of the day, Conor (McGregor) is going to get what he wants. But, Khabib is not going to go fight any other guy if there is no belt on the line. He’s not fighting nobody,” said Ali.

“You have to understand, too, Khabib is getting; Khabib is under a UFC contract and I will never break a UFC contract and sign with another promotion. He got offered $5 million from a promotion in Russia to fight. You understand? That’s how much the man can get. We would never do anything like that because we will always honor UFC contract,”

How about that? Now, Nurmagomedov isn’t at the pay grade yet with the UFC, but if he can defeat Tony Ferguson for an interim belt, and then McGregor, one would think he’ll be cashing much, much bigger checks.
