TJ Dillashaw won’t be facing Dominick Cruz at UFC 207, like he hoped, but it looks like he’ll take on another of the division’s top bantamweights.
According to a report from ESPN.com, sources are saying that a fight between Dillashaw and John Lineker has been verbally agreed to the December 30th, UFC 207 card. The match-up is expected to be finalized shortly.
Ever since Dillashaw lost the bantamweight title to Cruz, via split decision earlier this year, he’s been campaigning for a rematch. Recently the UFC announced, however, that the champion will fight Cody Garbrandt at the year end event.
Most recently, Dillashaw decisioned Raphael Assuncao in July. Lineker, meanwhile, earned a split decision win over John Dodson in October. Dillashaw – Lineker should be an outstanding fight.
UFC 207 will be headlined by a bantamweight scrap between champion Amanda Nunes and Ronda Rousey.
