Rousey will square off with Nunes at UFC 207, which will take place on December 30th in Las Vegas, Nevada. The former champ will be fighting for the first time since her storied reign was ended by Holly Holm last November.
Since then, however, Nunes has won two more bouts, and in July, she quickly took out Miesha Tate to grab the 135 title. Recently TMZ caught up with the dangerous fighter, and here is some of what Nunes had to say about her upcoming bout with Rousey (quotes via MMA Mania.com):
“This fight is gonna change my life, my career,” Nunes said. “I hope she’s ready. I know she’s a very tough opponent, but I’m the best in the world.”
“She’s gonna be surprised when I connect with my punches,” Nunes continued. “This is gonna be harder for Ronda, because everyone expects her to win. She can’t, she knows that.”
It’s going to be a fascinating night. Since Nunes stormed through Rousey’s longtime rival in Tate, one would think the Judoka is going to take this fight very, very seriously. That said, watching footage and taking a solid punch to the chin are two different things…
Will Nunes be able to counter Rousey’s pressure and or takedowns? Will the latter be handed her second, consecutive defeat? Either way, 2016 is closing out with a huge fight.
