After Gall quickly took out CM Punk at UFC 203 in September, he called for a scrap with Northcutt. The latter accepted the challenge, and the two will fight at UFC on FOX 22 on December 17th. Recently Gall talked with TMZ Sports about the upcoming fight, and while doing so, he sent Northcutt this warning (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“I’m gonna do a lot to him. I don’t see this one being one round. I see this being longer than that and I’m gonna break his bones. I’m gonna hurt him bad. I’m gonna bust him up, break his bones, tear things. I’m gonna put a beating on him…His boxing sucks. His ground game is pretty bad. So there’s holes on both sides. I know how I’m gonna fight him. It’s gonna be bad for him. He’s gonna feel like crap.”
Wow. That’s some bold rhetoric. Gall went on to add that he doesn’t hate Northcutt “at all”, and that he just thinks he’s “corny”.
This aside, it will be interesting to see how this fight unfolds. If Gall can get the bout to the ground, and if he can keep it there for a little while, Northcutt could be in tough.
Northcutt is coming off a decision win over Enrique Marin, which followed his first pro loss in January, when he was submitted by Bryan Barberena. The 20 year-old has gone 3-1 to date in UFC action, while the 24 year-old Gall is 2-0.
UFC on FOX 22 will be hosted by the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.
