Bisping and Henderson fought back in 2009, and the latter put away the British fighter with a punishing right hand. Then, before referee Mario Yamasaki could stop the bout, Henderson followed up with another booming right from above. To say the finish has been seen by a lot of folks, is a massive understatement.
Well, the two are set to fight again at UFC 204 on October 8th, which will also be Bisping’s first title defense as middleweight champ. Recently the rugged vet spoke to Sky Sports, and Bisping had this to say about the 46 year-old legend:
“He could not beat Anderson Silva, and I did that. He could not win a UFC belt, I have done that. He wasn’t good enough on the night, whereas I was.”
“Henderson is famous for one thing only – knocking me out at UFC 100. That is the highlight of his career, and it will be eradicated when I destroy him at UFC 204.”
Now, chances are Bisping doesn’t really believe what he’s saying here. After all, Henderson is a former Strikeforce and Pride champ, and he’s scored memorable wins over legends like Fedor Emelianenko, Wanderlei Silva, and “Shogun” Rua, among others. It’s also important to remember that Bisping is one of the best in the game at promoting a fight, and that when all’s said and done, win or lose, he’ll be more complimentary. Then again, maybe he won’t be…
UFC 204 will be hosted by Manchester, England.
