Recently Woodley confirmed that he’ll take on the vaunted striker at the November 12th event, which will take place at New York City’s Madison Square Gardens. As it stands right now, the betting lines have Woodley as an underdog in the +135 to +160 range. Yes, even though he’s the new welterweight king. Not only that, but there does seem to be a lot of folks who think Thompson’s footwork, agility and kicks will be too much for Woodley.
Well, recently Woodley was asked to weigh-in on the odds, during the latest “UFC Tonight“. Here is what the powerful wrestler had to say (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):
“I don’t think I’ll be the underdog before the fight, when they see how I train and what I’m bringing to the fight. Those odds will change when they see the fighter spirit in me. His fight style has been frustrating for a lot of people.”
Fair enough. It is going to be fascinating to see what goes down. The consensus was that Robbie Lawler would get by Woodley, and the latter’s booming right hand certainly proved that theory wrong.
