There’s been a ton of talk about Conor McGregor facing Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, but according to a recent tweet from Dana White, Mr. Khabib Nurmagomedov is challenging for the lightweight title next.
Ever since McGregor avenged his UFC 196 loss to Nate Diaz, by decisioning the latter at UFC 201, there’s been considerable speculation that Alvarez – McGregor would be next. Alvarez himself has repeatedly said he wants to fight McGregor, and the latter was originally booked for a shot at the 155 belt back in March (before Rafael dos Anjos withdrew due to injury).
Well, recently a fan on Twitter asked White if Alvarez – McGregor is a go for November 12th, as is the rumor. The UFC boss man, however, tweeted out this:

Nurmagomedov also followed up on Twitter and claimed that they’re just waiting on Alvarez to sign the contract. What about McGregor? Well, this tweet recently went out…

So, sure, until the UFC officially announces Alvarez – Nurmagomedov, nothing is certain. But it definitely looks like McGregor isn’t going to be fighting for the lightweight title next. It will be really interesting to see then, whether McGregor agrees to return to 145 to rematch Jose Aldo.
