After going through the first half of the year without fighting, it looks like Alexander Gustasfsson is going to have a very active, second half to his campaign.
Recently the Brazilian outlet Combate reported that Gustafsson is expected to fight Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at the UFC’s November 19th, Fight Night card in Sao Paulo, Brazil. MMA Fighting.com has also been informed by sources that the light-heavyweight bout is targeted for that date.
If the bout goes down, it will take place less than three months after Gustafsson (17-4) earned a UD win over Jan Blachowicz on September 3rd. On that night, “The Mauler” was fighting for the first time since last October, when he lost a tightly contested, split decision loss to champion Daniel Cormier.
The Brazilian vet Nogueira (22-7), meanwhile, fought at UFC 198 in May and took out Patrick Cummins.
So, that’s an interesting and somewhat surprising bout. Nogueira is currently ranked #9 in the UFC’s 205 division while Gustafsson is positioned at #2.
