Sage Northcutt is back in the news again, but not due to his actions in the Octagon, but because of Mickey Gall’s callout at UFC 203.
Gall took on CM Punk at the September 10th event, and quickly submitted the former pro-wrestling star. After the win, the welterweight relayed that he thinks Northcutt is “corny”, and that he wants to throw down with the lightweight prospect at UFC 205.
Well, since Northcutt is reportedly recovering from a staph infection, he won’t be able to face Gall on November 12th like the latter hopes. But, during a recent edition of “The MMA Hour”, Northcutt was not surprisingly asked to comment on Gall’s callout.
While discussing Gall’s win over Punk, Northcut argued (quote via MMA Fighting.com): “it’s almost like fighting someone’s dad that only trained very little for a fight.” Then, while referring to Gall’s callout specifically, which included a few ‘expletives’, Northcutt stated:
“I think a step too far was when he’s cussing and sending the curse words out there,” Northcutt said. “I don’t know. He said that’s how he gets people’s attention, but I don’t know what people’s attention he’s trying to get if he’s cussing out there. Is it the families? The moms? The little kids that are watching? I don’t know, but it doesn’t seem very appropriate.”
There you have it. Clearly Gall and Northcutt are a wee bit different huh?
Now it will be interesting to see if the UFC tries to get Gall a fight for UFC 205. Or if they consider waiting so that he can face Northcutt. The latter also said he’d be willing to fight Gall at 170.
