It looks like the UFC’s last event of 2016 is going to feature a pivotal, heavyweight match-up, as according to reports, a bout between Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez is in the works for UFC 207. The card is set to take place on December 3oth in Vegas.
According to a report from MMA Junkie.com, the rematch has been proposed to Werdum and Velasquez, but bout agreements aren’t signed. MMA Fighting.com, however, is reporting that the heavyweights have agreed to the scrap.
The two battled for the first time last June, and Werdum ended Velasquez’s reign as champ, by submitting him in round three. They were expected to fight earlier in 2016, however, Velasquez had to withdraw due to injury. Werdum ended up facing Stipe Miocic in May, and was KO’d in the opening round.
More recently, both men have defeated Travis Browne.
So, one would think this is a title shot eliminator, as Werdum is ranked #1 and Velasquez is #2.
