Donald Cerrone is no longer going to throw hands with Robbie Lawler at UFC 205, but the surging welterweight will reportedly still compete at the November 12th card.
Following Lawler’s decision to withdraw from the event, ESPN’s Brett Okamoto is reporting that Kelvin Gastelum has agreed to face Cerrone. Lawler reportedly decided that he needs more time to recover from the KO loss he suffered versus Tyron Woodley in July.
So, chances are this bout won’t receive the same reception as Cerrone – Lawler, as Gastelum hasn’t been involved in as many wars as the former champ. But, it’s an interesting match-up nonetheless.
Gastelum is coming off a decision win over Johny Hendricks in July. Cerrone, meanwhile, took out Ricky Story in August. Gastelum was booked to fight Jorge Masvidal on November 5th, before the change-up.
UFC 205 will go down at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.
