TMZ recently reported that Lawler has withdrawn from the bout. The reason he’s elected to do so, however, wasn’t known. In a more recent report from MMA Fighting.com, sources have informed the outlet that Lawler has decided he shouldn’t be fighting so soon, following his KO loss to Tyron Woodley in July.
So, while that’s unfortunate news, it’s pretty understandable. It remains to be seen if Cerrone will remain on the November 12th card, which will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Lawler had won five straight fights before he lost the 170 title to Woodley at UFC 201.
