UFC 203: Alistair Overeem Doesn’t See Headliner Hitting Championship Rounds

If you plan to limit your beer / food / washroom breaks to in between rounds during the UFC 203 headliner on Saturday, Alistair Overeem likely thinks that’s wise.

As you surely know, the decorated fighter will throw hands with UFC heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic, in what most people believe could be a very violent affair. After all, both Miocic and Overeem have made it a habit of putting away their opponents.

That said, sometimes when you have two dangerous fighters, it can lead to a hesitant and conservative scrap. But Overeem recently told the media the following (quote via MMA

“I am the most hungry fighter of the heavyweight division,” Overeem said. “I predicted a second- or third-round knockout. It depends on him a little bit, too, because it takes two to tango. Judging his nature, it’s not going to take that long – but you never know. There’s an X-factor involved. He can go away, he can evade, he can become a different Stipe all of a sudden. But otherwise, I don’t see it lasting two or three rounds.”

That definitely seems to be the consensus. Overeem has finished his opponents in three of his last four fights, and in the case of Stefan Struve, he took him out in the opening round. Miocic, meanwhile, needed less than four minutes, combined, to put away Alistair Overeem and most recently Fabricio Werdum.

UFC 203 will be hosted by the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
