Recently Conor McGregor had some choice words for boxing star “Canelo” Alvarez, and the latter says he’d be happy to square off with the UFC champ in the ring, and show him the ropes….
Leading up to UFC 202, McGregor cited Alvarez as part of the “cherry picking” syndrome, which the Irish star says is plaguing boxing. Alvarez recently vacated the WBC middleweight title, rather than face mandatory challenger, WBA and IBF middleweight champ Gennady Golovkin.
Of course, McGregor has remained a hot topic in the boxing world, on account of all the rumors this past summer, that a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather was in the works.
“If he wants to try out boxing, then anytime he wants. If he wants to come over to this side of the world and try boxing, anytime he wants, to see that it’s not as easy as he thinks.”
Now, that’s a fight that would also move a ton of tickets, as “Canelo” has a huge fanbase, just like McGregor. Could it happen? There’s maybe what? A 1 %? 1.1 % chance of it getting signed?
“Canelo”, who is coming off a ridiculous, KO win over Amir Khan, is booked to fight Liam Smith on September 17th.
It remains to be seen who McGregor will face next, following his decision win over Nate Diaz at UFC 202.
