After dropping consecutive fights, former light-heavyweight champ Rashad Evans is heading to 185, as expected.
Evans, who is coming off a decision loss to Ryan Bader, and most recently a quick, KO loss to Glover Teixeira, confirmed the drop on “The MMA Hour”. Evans also reported, however, that he does not have a fight lined up with middleweight contender, Tim Kennedy, as rumored (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“I can tell you I’m working towards that in making my cut down to middleweight,” Evans said. “As far as the opponent, nothing has been set in stone. There has been talks about a fight with Tim Kennedy, but other fights too as well, but nothing has been signed yet. I had Ali [Evans’ manager] with Joe Silva trying to set something up but nothing has been finalized yet.”
It will be interesting to see if Evans can make a run at middleweight. The 36 year-old’s last win took place in 2013, when he stopped Chael Sonnen.
