Bellator President Scott Coker let it be know that they’d be interested in Rory MacDonald when he became a free agent, and it looks like the promotion got their man.
MacDonald’s UFC contract came to an end in June, after he was decisioned by fellow welterweight contender, Stephen Thompson. Even before the bout went down, MacDonald announced he was going to test the free agent waters. Now, MMA Fighting.com is reporting the Canadian is finalizing a deal with Bellator.
According to the report, sources have told the outlet that the UFC did not match the terms offered by Bellator, and that MacDonald signing the deal is just a formality.
So, that’s a huge addition to Bellator’s roster. The 27 year-old MacDonald joined the UFC back in 2010.
