UFC 114 Jackson vs EvansFormer light heavyweight champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans are finally set to settle their rivalry, as The Ultimate Fighter 10 coaches will square off in the main event of UFC 114 on May 29 in Las Vegas, the UFC today announced.

UFC 114, which airs live on pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, coincides with the second UFC Fan Expo.

Jackson and Evans had been expected to settle their feud at UFC 107 in December, but Jackson’s role in “The A-Team” and brief retirement (which ended late last year) postponed the fight, before the pair formally agreed to headline UFC 114 last month.

“Rampage” (30-7), who lost the 205-pound title to Forrest Griffin in July 2008, is coming off back-to-back wins over Wanderlei Silva and Keith Jardine, while Evans (14-1-1) rebounded from loss last May to Lyoto Machida with a unanimous decision over Thiago Silva in January.

  • Dirty says:

I see Rashad taking this. Rampage last fought March 7th 2009 against Jardine and he had mentionned that he felt he needed 3 solid rounds due to the fact he KO’d Wanderlei so quickly. All that was coming off of the loss to Griffin and the whole “incident”. He’s now been living the movie life, with a long layoff. Rashad on the other hand, hasn’t exactly been that active either but he’s been focused on MMA and looked pretty good against Silva.

An active Rampage vs an active Rashad when the fight was supposed to happen, i’d give it to Rampage but Rashad should take it with superior speed and footwork. I can see Rashad taking Rampage down but I don’t see him keeping him there. Henderson couldn’t even keep Rampage on the ground.

I predict a 3 round unanimous decision for Rashad and possibly an ugly decision.

I agree with you and that upsets me cuz i wish this fight was a 5-rounder otherwise we may have an evans-silva type fight and another Rashad lay n’ pray decision. Rampage is a good wrestler himself and hopefully he can keep this standing and get the knock out. Wether your a fan of Rampage or Rashad I’m sure everyone wants to see their fighter win this grudge match by KO.

Forgive me if I sound repetitive guys.

I Believe that Rampage HEART is in no way involved in MMA at this point or stage in his life due to personal issues, movies, and Kids. He is and always have been my personal FAVORITE fighter in MMA. BUTTT the lay off and motive for fighting and training isn’t there for him now….
I have heard numerous reports of how out of shape he is now, and it was already hard to get this guy to train and diet properly.. ALLL that being said he probably will KO Rashad. BUT I doubt it…

Rashad is very calculated in his fight approach, and with the backing of his team and coaches will have a good fight plan.. Look for Rashad to take him down as a game plan, similar to Thiago Silva and tire Rampage out..

Rampage has shown several times in his fights he is a TWO HEADED MONSTER!!! ONE with incredible KO power and capability and Stamina, and the other ONE who over looks an opponent and once he cant KO him loses focus because he has no other game plan outside off a brawl…
examples: see Forrest griffin/Keith jardine vs Chuck liddel/Dan Henderson/Wanderlia Silva…….
And maybe in this fight he is expecting to KO Rashad easy so he is overlooking him or thinks this fight will be easy compare to others.

Rashad is a top tier fighter and a worthy adversary and former champ… If taken even slightly lightly he will beat you…

I wanna see another show of Bisping b1tching!

  • Eldiablo says:

    Nice looking card for sure.

However, I’m not as stoked about Rampage vs Rashad as I was when the fight meant something last year. It kinda lost its sizzle.

  • Mychael D says:

Suprised so many people are taking Rashad for this fight. Definately putting my money on Rampage for the KO for sure!

  • Bharris4 says:

Anyone else notice the UFC advertised Rashad as having 18 wins in the past? any idea why or just a gaff on their part.

  • jcohl says:

While 114 looks to be rock solid, I’ve sort of just lost interest in the whole Evans-Jackson thing.
I’d like to see Evans win, but if he doesn’t it just doesn’t seem to matter somehow…

  • coach says:

RAMPAGE wins!!!, did you people see Evans and Silva? Whoo, he won until Silva decided to show up. Rampage will be there from the bell.

  • ceasar says:

nice… this card needs to be this weekend !!!

  • Deanna says:

where are the fighters staying for this fight?

    • jcohl says:

Some of the fighters have homes in the Las Vegas area, some of the fighters crash at the houses of fellow fighters who live in the Las Vegas area, and some are the “guests” of hotels with working agreements with Station Casinos.
Main eventers and other superstars for a card at the MGM Grand usually stay in one of the Celebrity Spa Suites…

  • blaze says:

i think they will battle it out and rashad will move away from rampage punches, and im sure rashad will try and take rampage down. But as u see in rampages last fight he took keith jardine down so maybe his game plan will be technicall and try to win by just getting the points he needs, however i doubt tht will be the case, im sure he will try and bang with rashad but it just takes one punch thats all, anyways i pick rampage to win this fight.

  • blaze says:

rampage will win,why for one after the ultimate fighter it showed his progress he ran/jogged/walked 8 miles rampage has been in shape for awhile plus he had good wrestling and good knockout power, rashad is fast but look at rampages hands when he fightsd in a brawl with lets see forrest, keith jardine, dan henderson, and exc.. what im trying to say is u all say rashad is quicker because he sides steeps and hobbles around and rampage walks but if it got into a flurry rampage would win, now rashad will prolly try and be smart and take rampage down but page has good underrated wrestling so he will flip over rashad, btw all u guy saying he did bad with keith jardine but do u remeber when evans fought keith in ultimate fighter he was getting it took to him for awhile and since rashad has been ko’d by machida idk if he recovered from that he won thiago with wrestling but third match he was chicken dancing again im a fan of both but im really shuire page has this..
