It’s looking more-and-more like Jon Jones may not be sidelined until 2018, after being flagged for USADA last month, just days out from UFC 200.
Jones was supposed to throw down with Daniel Cormier at the July 9th card, but then, the MMA world was turned upside down, when USADA announced “Bones” had been flagged for a potential anti-doping violation. The interim light-heavyweight champ vehemently denied knowingly taking any PED. Since then, it was reported that Jones had tested positive for estrogen blockers.
Well, over the weekend, Jones reported that he’s “found out lots of really good news” and that he believes he’ll be fighting again soon. Dana White appeared on the latest Jim Rome show, and according to MMA Fighting.com, the UFC boss man said this about Jones:
“I don’t even know if this is public. I didn’t know if I can talk about it,” White said. “Normally, I talk about anything, but when it comes to medical stuff, you can’t do it. It’s looking like Jon Jones did not take the drug everybody thought he took. It looks like it’s something else.
“I’ll let this thing play out and if that’s true and that’s what USADA and the Nevada State Athletic Commission say happened, it could look good for Jon Jones.”
Sure, until USADA and the Nevada Commission announce otherwise, there’s no reason to start speculating on when Cormier – Jones II is going to happen. But, increasingly it does look like the world’s best fighter could be fighting before his 30th birthday.
