Tito Ortiz to Return in Early-2008

Yesterday Tito Ortiz issued an official press release announcing he will return to action in early-2008:

As always, it’s been great to hear from so many fans who are eager to know about my next match.

Right now I am totally focused on training. I have always had a reputation for being the best prepared fighter in any match I’ve ever entered, and I intend to maintain that reputation.

I’m currently working very closely with the UFC to plan my next fight, which you can be sure will not disappoint my fans. It looks like I will fight again in early 2008, and when I do I will be 100% prepared to crush my opponent.

During training breaks I’m busy running my active sportswear business Punishment Athletics (www.punishment.com), which has just had its most successful year, and with the two causes that I support — our U.S. troops and children in need. I hope there will be an announcement very soon about a new effort that I’m involved with for kids that I think all of my fans will want to get behind. I’m also planning to follow-up my visit with our troops in Iraq this summer with a return trip before the end of the year.

I am looking forward to Tito’s next fight, predition… Forest Griffin.

I like Tito. He is a very good fighter. He has the tools to be the man again, but it is going to be hard for him since his striking is the weakest part of his game. If he focused mainly on his striking like Koscheck does, maybe Tito could shock the MMA world and one day be champion again.

  • SCOTCHYDOW says:

Yeah, I remember his first fight with “Gay” Metzger. He got screwed. Metzger tapped but Big John didn’t see it, and then got Tito in a choke. That’s back in the day when Tito was the only guy Tank Abbot could find to spar with. At least he got a secound fight with Metzger, and kicked his ass. Metzger is still running around saying he wants to fight Tito again, but that’s unlikely since his affiliation with M1 and HDNet.

Tito is a waste of time. I hate watching him in or out of the ring. If he really wanted to support our troops he’d be talking to his Washington reps about bringing them home.

whilst tito is still a good fighter he needs a good perfomance in his next fight.he has not been at the top of the division for a while now and needs a big win to get back up there.

  • Holy_Dave says:

tito VS shamrock for the last fight on his contract, let him go out with another win over Ken. Great ego-boost

  • Holy_Dave says:

I think Rashad and Forest beat him, but he’s such a coontroversial perosn, that the ufc needs him

  • Ojibwe Assassin says:

Some of you are really f***king stupid and immature. F*** Tito huh, well I’m sure he thinks the same about you. The difference is he gets to sit in his giant house with Jenna when he says it. It’s people like you who make me mad. How you can you truly hate any one who steps into the cage and fights for a living. He’s there, entertaining you and your going to rip on him? What an idiot. Tito is a major part of UFC’s history, if any one forgot, he was the posterboy when UFC exploded and became popular. He still holds the record for most title defenses only tied by Matt Hughes. Want to guess who faced stronger competition?

Tito has fought the best the world has to offer throughout his career and he will probably continue to. People are talking about him and Henderson fighting. A good fight with two awesome wrestlers and again, a top named fighter. Fighting Griffin again, a top ranked fighter.

Tito does need to work on his stand up, but he doesn’t just want to focus on that and lose his ground game. Look at what happed to Kos, he got mauled…in wrestling…. by GSP. No one is so good at something they can afford to not train it at all.
