Conor McGregor has yet to fight at 155 in the UFC, and Nate Diaz is ranked #4, but Eddie Alvarez wants to face the winner of the UFC 202 headliner next.

Alvarez shocked the MMA world earlier this month at UFC FN 90, by quickly putting away Rafael dos Anjos with punches. Due to the ridiculous roll Tony Ferguson has been on, and because no one has ever, defeated Khabib Nurmagomedov, many believe one of those two will face Alvarez in his first title defense.

Well, the former Bellator champ recently appeared on MMA on Sirius XM, and while doing so, Alvarez had this to say (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“Initially I want the winner of Conor-Nate. I would like a big pay-per-view, big money fight. I’m willing to wait for one of them guys. I almost got in a fight with Nate in Mexico City so maybe we can settle our differences, and if Conor happens to win I welcome that fight as well.

“The number one contender in my weight class has fought once in about the last three years or something. So I’m a little nervous about fighting a guy like that who barely shows up to fight. So Conor and Nate, they’re the guys on my radar, one of them I’d really like to get my hands on.”

It will be interesting to see what goes down. The UFC and McGregor continue to say he’ll return to 145 to defend the belt, regardless of what goes down at UFC 202. So, if he does avenge his loss to Diaz, one would think the UFC will book Alvarez to fight either Ferguson or Nurmagomedov next.

If Diaz wins, however, then ya never know. Maybe they do grant him a title shot? Even though he was outgunned by RDA in 2014?

Diaz and McGregor will meet again on August 20th.
