Alessio Sakara vs. James Irvin Completes UFC on Versus 1 Main Card
A previously-reported matchup between middleweight sluggers Alessio Sakara and James Irvin has been promoted to complete the four-fight main card for “UFC on Versus: Vera vs. Jones”, the UFC’s Versus debut which takes place on March 21 at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
MMAjunkie reported the change on Tuesday, which came after a matchup between John Howard and Daniel Roberts, who replaced an injured Anthony Johnson, was moved to the event’s preliminary card.
Light heavyweights Brandon Vera and Jon Jones headline the event, which also features Junior dos Santos vs. Gabriel Gonzaga and Cheick Kongo vs. Paul Buentello.

This will be a slugfest. Be interesting to see if Irvin has any cage rust being out so long?
He will probably have some ring rust. But with irvin’s power he only has to land 1 on sakara to end the fight. Should be entertaining how ever long it lasts.

What thweight class gonna be. I know Sakara used to be lhw but dropped to middleweight. And Irvin has mostly fought at 205 but also HW anyone know?

This should be a great fight! I’m happy it’s on the televised card. If irvin hadn’t been out for so long i’d easily give him the ko but since he’s been out for a while i think this fight can go either way.
Alessio is gna work the Sandman, he’s been out the game a lil too long for this big of a contender like Sakara…

When was the last time Sakara fought. I think he been out a little while also I believe.

James irvin’s last fight was his loss to Anderson Silva 13 months prior to Sakara’s last fight, in July of ’08 at UFN 14…
