After recording his eighth straight win last night at UFC Fight Night 91, Tony Ferguson is calling for bouts with either the lightweight champ, and the division’s #1 contender…

If you chose to watch last night’s card, then you were treated to a wildly entertaining scrap between Ferguson and Landon Vannata. The latter likely prompted thousands of gasps throughout the MMA world, by cracking Ferguson with several hard shots early on. The contender battled back and then some, and ended up submitting Vannata with a second round D’arce.

Well, following the win, Ferguson had this to say on the FOX Sports 1 post-fight show (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“All my performances are right there to put me on title contention,” said Ferguson. “This fight was a short-notice fight. I know he wasn’t ranked, but it was a very risky chance to come in there and take the short-notice fight. Props to Lando Vannata and props to JacksonWink over in Albuquerque, but every single fight is there and I’m ready for it. If Eddie Alvarez wants to sign that dotted line, or if he wants an easy fight, go ahead and fight Conor [McGregor], but I’m a hard type fight. I’m not someone to joke around with. And with [Rafael dos Anjos], you have Khabib Nurmagomedov. I’d love to get that fight against Khabib and maybe we’ll go on The Ultimate Fighter show and put on a show for the fans.”

Considering the roll Ferguson’s been on, one would think that his chances of landing one of those fights are pretty, pretty good. Currently he’s ranked #3 in the division, so the UFC could tap him to fight the champ Alvarez, or Nurmagomedov.

“El Cucuy” was scheduled to fight Nurmagomedov before, and the fight fell through due to injury. So, it will be interesting to see if the UFC goes with that match-up. It could depend on when Alvarez wants to fight next.
