It remains to be seen if Jon Jones launches an appeal with USADA, and whether his team proves he took a tainted supplement, but Dana White is still clearly, pretty, pretty upset about what’s gone down this week.
As everyone under the MMA sun now knows, Jones was scheduled to fight Daniel Cormier tonight at UFC 200. But, after Jones was informed of a potential, anti-doping violation, he was axed from the card. Now “DC” is fighting Anderson Silva.
“No. I’m not talking to Jon Jones,” White said. “I’m not talking to him, there is no reason for us to talk. The guy is a professional. Listen, I’m not the biggest Jon Jones fan right now, but I truly believe that he did take a supplement that had this stuff in it, and it wasn’t intentional. I truly believe that. But at the same time, come on! You’re 28-years-old. You’re probably the greatest talent to ever step foot in this sport. Call USADA and tell them what supplements you’re taking!”
Really, considering that other fighters have been flagged due to tainted supplements, White has a point. Jones has denied, knowingly, taking any type of performance enhancing drug.
