An emotional Jon Jones and his reps held a press conference this morning in Las Vegas, and the UFC’s interim light-heavyweight champ denied intentionally taking any type of performance enhancing drug.
Yesterday night, the UFC announced that Jones will no longer fight Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 on Saturday, as “Bones” has been flagged for a potential anti-doping violation. Here is some of what a visibly upset Jones had to say at the press conference (quotes via UFC.com):
“The whole situation really sucks, it really hurts a lot,” Jones said. “I have no clue what it is. I’ve been taking the same supplements the majority of my career. I’m extremely against performance enhancers, and the whole thing sucks because being labeled as someone who cheats hurts me more than anything else.”
“I would never take anything that would enhance my game,” Jones added. “I wouldn’t cheat.”
The 28 year-old Jones also apologized to his rival Cormier and the fans for what’s gone down. The renowned fighter also said he will be back, fighting again, if in fact he’s suspended for two years.
