If you’re big time, Georges St-Pierre fan, who has also been warming-up to Michael Bisping, well, chances are that’s ending today….
As you know, the fighters’ names have been tied together recently, after St-Pierre acknowledged that he would be interested in in fighting the new, middleweight champ. Bisping, not surprisingly, has said he’s down for the fight, if that’s what the UFC wants.
It remains to be seen what happens with GSP, who hasn’t fought since 2013, when he earned a split decision win over Johny Hendricks. After the bout, the Canadian announced he was vacating the title, and taking a break from fighting due to personal reasons. Since then, GSP has also said that the use of performance enhancing drugs in MMA was another reason he walked away, and that he wouldn’t fight again, until more steps were taken to curb their use.
“I have nothing against Georges St-Pierre apart from the fact that he retired from the sport and was like, ‘No, I can’t do it because people are taking performance enhancing drugs.’ Well guess what, they were and they’re getting caught. But if you’re a man, if you’re a fighter, if you’re not a little bitch, you’ll still continue to take those chances and try to beat those people. You won’t run away to the shadows and disappear because you think you can’t compete. I’m not the coward. I’m not the coward that needs to takes steroids to compete with these guys. And I would have thought that Georges St-Pierre was man enough also to have the same attitude.”
Well, it will be interesting to see what GSP has to say about Bisping’s take on the situation…
Since the latter KO’d Luke Rockhold to become champ, he’s repeatedly said he wants another bout with Dan Henderson, who brutally KO’d him in 2009.
