UFC FN 90: Eddie Alvarez Says Legacy Talk is “Nonsense”

If Eddie Alvarez can defeat Rafael dos Anjos next week, it will be a hee-uge accomplishment, but the lightweight clearly doesn’t want to hear anything about what it means for his ‘legacy’.

Since Alvarez is a former Bellator champ, if he takes the UFC’s belt from RDA on July 7th, it will put him in pretty rare / elite company. But, during a recent media call to promote Fight Week, here’s what Alvarez had to say about his legacy (quote via UFC.com):

“I don’t even like to say the word ‘legacy,’” said Alvarez. “The goal for me is the same as it was Day One when I started this: to beat the guy in front of me.

“Legacy and all this other stuff is nonsense. I always want to beat the guy in front of me; that’s always the goal. Everything else comes as a byproduct of doing that.”

Alrighty. No more questions about your legacy…If Alvarez wins, however, people are going to be talking and then some about his record, and where he sits in the all-time ranks.
