Urijah Faber’s “Not Necessarily Itching” to Scrap TJ Dillashaw

Now that Urijah Faber’s third bout with Dominick Cruz is in the books, it remains to be seen what’s next for the Sacramento star, but it doesn’t sound like he’s going to be campaigning to scrap TJ Dillashaw.

Faber took on the bantamweight champ at UFC 199 earlier this month, and lost via UD to Cruz. Leading up to the fight, not only did Faber spar verbally with his longtime rival, but he also repeatedly took aim at his former teammate and buddy, Dillashaw.

Now, obviously if Faber had won the 135 title, then there would be more buzz these days about him facing Dillashaw. The latter is booked to fight Raphael Assuncao at UFC 200, July 9th, in what many believe is a title shot eliminator.

But, what if Dillashaw loses? Then a fight between him and Faber would seem like sense right? Well, recently Faber told MMA Fighting.com the following, when asked about the possibility of facing his former friend.

“I’m not necessarily itching for that fight,” Faber said. “That’s just a bad feeling altogether when I think about that. It makes me more sad than anything. It’s not like I’m angry about anything. It’s just kind of weird.”

¬†Fair enough. You would think that if Dillashaw does lose, then the UFC might make a few calls about matching him up against Faber. But since the latter doesn’t have the belt, he has some other options.
The 37 also reported that he has no plans to retire, despite his loss to Cruz, and that he knows he’s “right there at the top.” Faber is currently ranked #2 in the 135 division.
