Conor McGregor doesn’t hide the fact that he likes to spend money, and lots of it, but the UFC featherweight champ doesn’t do so just for himself.
Since McGregor has become one of the biggest names in combat sports, fans have gotten used to the Irish star buying luxury watches, fancy threads, and sweet rides. Typically he rents out a massive mansion for the final weeks of his training camp as well. Often these ‘acquisitions’ are shared by McGregor on social media.
Recently the Irish version of the Independent ran an interesting story featuring McGregor’s father, Tony McGregor. In it, the proud pop relayed the following:
“It’s phenomenal, but it hasn’t changed us,” says Tony. “Conor has a very generous nature, which he gets from his mother, and we realise that we’re very lucky. He came home from an American trip last year, and I saw this fleet of cars coming around the corner with him in the lead car, a black BMW 5 Series. I presumed it was an entourage chauffeuring him home, but he told me to hop in and asked if I liked the car? I said it was lovely and he handed me the keys and said, ‘Good, because it’s yours.’ He bought one for everyone in the family, which was really nice.”
Not too shabby right? Really, if you’ve followed McGregor closely, then this shouldn’t come as a surprise. He has said that he always wanted to give his family a better life, and having a brand new BMW certainly helps in that respect no?
McGregor’s next big payday isn’t far around the corner, as he’ll rematch Nate Diaz on August 20th at UFC 202. Diaz submitted McGregor in a welterweight contest that went down in March.
UFC 202 will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
