Anthony Pettis has his first featherweight fight booked, and as one would expect, the former lightweight champ will be taking on a top ten ranked, 145’er.
Yes, on Wednesday the promotion confirmed that Pettis will scrap the #7 ranked Charles Oliveira, August 27th. The fight will headline UFC on FOX 21, which will be hosted by the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Pettis (18-5) will be looking to end a three fight losing skid, as the dynamic fighter is coming off decision losses to Rafael dos Anjos, Eddie Alvarez and Edson Barboza. Prior to that “Showtime” had won five straight.
Oliveira (21-5) took out Myles Jury with a first round, guillotine choke in his last bout, after he incurred a throat injury while facing Max Holloway last August and incurred a TKO defeat. The submission hunter is 4-1 in his last 5 bouts.
That’s an interesting match-up and a very tough test for Pettis in his 145 debut.
