Heavyweight Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and fellow former K-1 kickboxer Pat Barry are likely to meet at UFC 115 on June 12 in Vancouver, according MMA Scraps Radio, which first reported the matchup on Friday.
Both fighters have reportedly been offered the fight and, while bout agreements have yet to be signed, are expected to agree to the matchup, which comes as a surprise as “Cro Cop” had been expected to fight Ben Rothwell at UFC 115, while Barry was scheduled to fight Gilbert Yvel at the event.
“Cro Cop” (26-7-2), who had been scheduled to fight Rothwell at UFC 110 before a stomach virus sidelined him, scored a second-round TKO over late-replacement Anthony Perosh at last Saturday’s event to bounce back from a September loss to Junior dos Santos.
Barry (5-1) earned “Knockout” and “Fight of the Night” honors for his second-round TKO of Antoni Hardonk in his most-recent fight in October, which improved him to 2-1 inside the Octagon. He recently resumed training after suffering a broken thumb in the victory.
UFC 115 has yet to be officially announced, but is expected to be headlined by the third meeting between former light heavyweight champions and Ultimate Fighter 11 coaches Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz.
