The welterweight fight will be part of UFC 201, which will go down in Atlanta, Georgia.
Brown (20-14) took on Demian Maia at UFC 198 earlier this month, and was submitted by the galaxy class grappler in round three. The resilient welterweight is 2-3 in his last 5 bouts and is ranked #8 at 170.
Ellenberger (30-11) was decisioned by Tarec Saffiedine in his last bout, which took place in January. The loss was Ellenberger’s fourth in his last five fights.
So, that’s a compelling bout on a couple of levels. It will be interesting to see how it plays out stylistically, and whether Ellenberger turns to his wrestling game extensively. It’s also a pivotal fight for both. Brown needs a win to remain a top ten welterweight, and Ellenberger is almost certainly in a must win situation.
UFC 201 will be headlined by a welterweight fight between champion Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley.
