Michael Bisping’s Coach Insists Fighter Will Defeat Luke Rockhold, Says You Can Slap Him if he Doesn’t…

Of course, Michael Bisping’s camp will tell you that he’s going to shock the world and defeat the champ Luke Rockhold on June 4th, but the middleweight’s striking coach has taken it up a notch.

Bisping has agreed to face Rockhold at UFC 199 on short notice, after former champ Chris Weidman, recently went down with a neck injury. Bisping’s striking coach, Jason Parillo recently appeared on Submission Radio, and he made this eye brow raising statement (quote via Bloody Elbow.com):

“Listen to what I’m saying. Everybody can slap me in the face after if it doesn’t go that way, but he’s gonna win this fight. Michael Bisping’s gonna be champion of the world. Would it blow your mind?”

Now that’s how you raise the stakes no? Even with a full camp, Bisping would be the underdog–he was submitted by Rockhold in 2014–but “The Count” will face the champ on a couple of weeks notice. Not only that, but Bisping’s been filming a movie with Vince Diesel, so it’s not like he’s been in the gym a ton lately.

Despite all this, Parillo had this to say about Bisping’s cardio:

“Am I worried about his exhaustion or him getting tired? Of course. Who wouldn’t? Of course I worry about it. Do I think he did the right things [being] out filming XXX, hanging out with Vin Diesel and that type of shit? You think I think he was out there getting sharp for a f*cking world title fight? F*ck no. He wasn’t. But Michael’s got a tank that can go twenty-five minutes. He’s trained his last six fights for a five-round fight. His last six fights in a row have all been five rounds. He knows how to go twenty-five minutes, he’s got the mind for it and he’s got many, many years of doing this…”

There’s no denying that Bisping is one of the more rugged fighters in the game, and he has not quit in him. So, even if Rockhold takes him out again, chances are we’re in for another entertaining fight.

Bisping is coming off a thrilling, UD win over Anderson Silva in February. Rochold hasn’t fought since he stopped Weidman in December to win the 185 title.
