Rising lightweights Anthony Njokuani and Shane Roller have agreed to meet at “WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber,” according to MMAjunkie, the latest addition to World Extreme Cagefighting’s pay-per-view debut on April 24 in Sacramento, California.
Njokuani (12-2), whose two career losses have come against upcoming lightweight challenger Donald Cerrone and 155-pound champion Ben Henderson, has rebounded after losing his WEC debut to Henderson early last year with victories Bart Palaszewski and Muhsin Corbbrey, before picking up “Knockout of the Night” honors in his December win over former IFL standout Chris Horodecki.
Roller (4-1) has gone 4-1 since joining the WEC in August 2008, losing only to Henderson while scoring wins over Todd Moore, Mike Budnik, and Marcus Hicks, as well as earning “Submission of the Night” over Danny Castillo in November.
It is not yet known whether the matchup, which has clear title implications, will be on the WEC 48 pay-per-view or unaired preliminary card.
WEC 48 is headlined by featherweight champion Jose Aldo vs. Urijah Faber, and also includes lightweight champ Ben Henderson vs. Donald Cerrone and Mike Brown vs. Manny Gamburyan.
