An expected heavyweight matchup between The Ultimate Fighter 10 contestants Kimbo Slice and Matt Mitrione, first reported in January, has been officially added to “UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun 2” on May 8 in Montreal, the UFC announced during Saturday’s UFC 110 pay-per-view.
After losing to Roy Nelson in the opening round of The Ultimate Fighter 10, Slice (4-1) made his UFC debut in December with a unanimous decision over Houston Alexander at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale, while Mitrione (1-0), a former NFL player, made his MMA debut on the card with a second-round knockout of Marcus Jones.
UFC 113 is headlined by a rematch between light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and also includes Paul Daley vs. Josh Koscheck, Jeremy Stephens vs. Sam Stout, and Patrick Cote vs. Alan Belcher.

i like kimbo but hes a street fighter not an mma guy kimbo has got haye makers matt has got good strikeing and good strikeing beats wild haye makers anyday kimbo is guna get knocked the f*ck out which is a shame cos i like the guy
I thought they would save kimbo for fight nights to push ratings. He is not ready for ppv imo.
I hope Kimbo has made more improvements at ATT since his last fight. With Meathead’s power and Kimbo’s already suspect chin this could mean night-night for Kevin.
WOW. This will really put those Canadian fans in the seats!!!! ‘Cause they tend to be casual fans with no knowledge of MMA.
This card is a slap in the face, IMO of course. And seeing as how this card hasn’t sold out yet is testament to the fact that fans up here are getting weary with the lack starpower on the ppvs these days. Keep in mind last year was a record sellout.
The main event is stellar, but after that, what? Kos vs Daley for the “Get smashed by GSP” award, Kimbo vs someone who, with no pro fights under his belt, should never have been on TUF (after Amir won they said all contestants on TUF needed at least a pro fight under their belt). The combined record of the co-co-main event is 5-1. Pathetic. timcat said it right, put that on the fight night card.
The only way I’ll be there is if I can score some super cheap, below face value seats from the same scalpers who couldn’t get rid of their tickets last year.
I have to agree with you, this card is weak. I’m from Montreal and was at last years UFC, which was disappoiting to say the least. Loiseau’s disappointing return, Liddell’s disappointing loss and Silva vs Leites ( not much to say there ).
At first Rampage vs Rashad was rumoured on the card which i found fair but now we get a high quality, main event, some canadians on the card and Kimbo’s first PPV in the UFC. Not very good and ticket sales are proving it. I also find them very expensive. Unless your sitting close, I found myself watching the big screen the majority of the time and for the $250 I paid last year, I’d rather watch it in the comfort of my own home or a local bar like the Cage au Sport here in montreal.
We should also remember that this card is scheduled for May and it is still Febuary. Thats almost three months to sell tickets.
Eldiablo,
Are you a canadian? How can you tell that Canadians are just casual fans with no knowledge of mma? Did you happen to read a study we dont know about?
From what i remember The UFC did a little study to see where their fans came from and remember Dana saying somthing along the lines that Canadias show up to almost all the fights in the U.S. in huge numbers, and thats the reason he Allowed them to buy tickets before Americans on the GSP vs. Serra 2 card. So i dont know if they are as casual as you may think.
Dirty: Yeah, Rampage vs Rashad, or even Forrest vs LilNog would have been excellent co-mains.
Brent: I’m Canadian, and that first part was sarcasm.
Got it. Sorry hard to tell sarcasim in print (or type or texted or whatever)
It’s all good Brent. Guess I should have added a smiley or somethin’.
I don’t think I like those comments about MMA and Canada. I’d put my knowledge of the sport and it’s athletes and martial arts up against almost anyone. I’d suggest you retract that comment. There are many many more Canadians just like me.
O the Canadians are getting a angryyyyyyy :D
just jokes guys….
He was being sarcasmical… we covered this already.
I thought Kimbo shook the title of “a street fighter not an mma guy”. He used to fight in people’s backyards, I get it. Randy Couture fought in a gym his whole life until MMA. Is he a “Gym Fighter”? I saw Matt Serra get into a fight in the Junior High Cafeteria in 1987. Maybe he should be a “Cafeteria Fighter”!
Point is, Kimbo has more than proven (through TUF) a dedication to the art of MMA, and everyone comes from somewhere.
listen to when Buffer announces him, then you’ll know what he is for sure. He’ll say “…a mixed martial artist from…”, “…is a striker…”, or “…is a wrestler from…”.
I doubt Kimbo has reached the “mixed martial artist” level just yet. I bet he’ll say “…is a fighter” plain and simple. Not sure I’m willing to bet my avatar though…
i agree… i think where you come from shouldnt matter as long as you put in the hard work and deciation it takes to prove, which Kimbo did by joining the Tuf season staying humble and proving to everyone he isnt just a backyard brawler and to come out and fight Houston Alexander and show take downs, submission attempts proves that he is not just a backyard brawler anymore and wanting to progress and learn all the aspects of the game.
I can’t see this going any way other than a Mitrione knockout over Slice.
I don’t think Kimbo will get KO’d, but I do see it being a slow fight, maybe go to a decision. I like Kimbo and Ihope he does well but I think Mitrione is a promising fighter. He did very well on the ground against Big Baby and his standup is solid. We’ll see…
i like kimbo, i cant stand meathead but i think if he just keeps kickin kimbos leg a knockout may soon follow.
First things first.
@ GarRule – I knew you had a man-crush on Serra that bordered on SwimFan levels of creepiness, but now we discover that you’ve been stalking the guy since 1987?
Sweet baby Jesus bro, just man-up and ask the guy out already!
:P
@ eldiablo – here’s the deal devilman:
You Canadians send us a trainload of your cool-as-sh!t fine-a$$ females, each carrying a box of Tim Horton’s donuts and Timothy’s French vanilla flavored cafe au lait, and we’ll give you a decent UFC card.
Until then, you get Kimbo and Mitrione, and if you b!tch about it, you’ll get Keith “Humanzee” Jardine in your next main event…
:)
In all seriousness, I couldn’t agree more with my brother MMA fans up north. The UFC has GSP fighting in fu<king New Jersey of all places, and they're SO intent on making new Zuffa partner the sleek Shiek happy with an Anderson Silva fight, that Canada gets shorted again.
Not the way IMO to grow the sport in the backyard right next to our own…
I am a bragger about poor cards whereas I think it’s a good card.
Machida vs Rua = technical fight
Daley vs Kosh = Daley’s explosive hands(I hate him but stil I have to give credit to him)
Kimbo vs Mitrone = Fun to watch Kimbo struggling for win. I rele don’t care who you put agst Kimbo, I don’t even mind Kimbo agst Qalib(spell right?) but still it is fun to look kimbo in the O2.
I think this card is much better than 108 and 109.
lol me against a 67 year old crippled street bum is better then 108 or 109
@ Lar,
Watch out there is a thing about a 67 year old guy and spit shinning shoes…lol
