Following Lyoto Machida’s withdrawal from UFC on FOX 19, Gegard Mousasi is firing back at folks who piled on him, when he accused the star of taking banned substances…
Back in February, Mousasi accused the former light-heavyweight champ of being greased up, when they fought back in February, 2014. Machida won the bout via UD. Mousasi also raised eyebrows, and drew the ire of the legend’s supporters, for accusing Machida of taking steroids.
Last month, Machida was forced to withdraw from a scheduled bout with Dan Henderson, after he reported to USADA he had been taking a banned substance. That product was 7-Keto, which contains DHEA; a substance listed by USADA as an anabolic agent.
Well, Mousasi appeared on the latest “MMA Hour”, and while discussing all the heat he took for the comments he made earlier this year, the veteran stated (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“I think sometimes I say things, and when it’s the truth, still people are going to complain,” Mousasi said. “You don’t like the truth? You want me to tell you something you like, just because you want to hear it? You want me to say, ‘oh Machida, he beat me, he’s such a fair fighter?’ I don’t know what people want to hear. They don’t like to hear the truth. They are so stupid…”
Now, it should be noted that Machida claims he wasn’t aware that he was taking a banned substance, which is why he declared he was taking 7 – Keto to USADA. It should also be added that Machida has never tested positive for PEDs.
All this aside, Mousasi is booked to fight fellow middleweight contender Derek Brunson at UFC 200 on July 9th. The 30 year-old is 3-2 in his last 5 contests.
